Walking Techniques / Flicker (Burikka') sometimes call foot techniques are high-speed movement techniques, allowing user to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed. The focal point that determines the bases of this technique is speed. To an observer, it appears as if the user has teleported. It is utilized by circulating ki to the ankle and synchronizing the flow of Ki with the physical movement of stepping, to initiate a foot technique.

Foot Techniques are fundamental movements and ways to evade an opponents attack or put yourself in a better position to attack. No matter how strong a fist is, if it cannot connect with the opponent then it becomes useless. That is why foot techniques can be seen as some of the most fundamental techniques.

As speed is the main point of the technique the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from point A to point B in the least amount of steps.

Use of Foot Techniques require the use of the foot from the ankle down. In order to move properly, the condition is you need to properly match up the circulation of one's Ki in the ankle.

Training and skill are what determines how fast a dancer of Flicker can move; those of little skill in the technique or those who haven't used it an extended amount of time would obviously be out of practice, causing those individuals to be considerably slower, which requires the use of more steps to move the same distance and become winded far easier in a shorter amount of time.

Basic Walking TechniquesEdit

  1. Kuriageru (To Advance): Draws the user closer to his opponent. The move is so fast that it appears the practitioner moved toward the opponent instantaneously within the blink of an eye.[4]
  2. Hikisaru (To Retreat): Allows the user to retreat or create distance between user and opponent. This move is also instantaneously within the blink of eye.[5]
  3. Sakeru (To Avoid): Allows the user to avoid the opponents attack and gaze. This move allows the practitioner to instantaneously disappear from sight.[6]
  4. Utsu (To Attack): Attacks the opponent. One cannot just simply use 'Utsu' however they want. It’s a skill that allows the practitioner to read an enemy's foot technique and change its movement to neutralize the opponent.[7]
