Denkouken

Kanji

電光剣

English

Shining Lightning Fist

Denkouken is a timeless art focusing on strong, sturdy strikes. Coupled with speed and dexterity, a user of Denkouken has been known to be quite vicious on the battlefield, leaving a path of broken persons and terrain in their wake.

Benefits  []

Denkouken doesn’t revolve around using physical might, but instead emphasizes on strengthening ki flow and using it to extend and proliferate the body's personal electromagnetic field to aid in combat. An odd side effect of using ki to perform such actions is that it causes the body's nervous system to have a faster response time and in general causes the user to "act faster"; however the side effect is minimal when compared to the other benefits of the art. But manipulating by the body's electromagnetic field you could do an assortment of bizarre things from sensing when things are about to approach you to even being able to predict actions. It's best to think of the Denkouken as a consistently evolving weapon that enhances combat through means not involving the style on its own, but through its special techniques. However special techniques can only be performed depending on the ability of the user in the style. To practitioners of Denkouken the human body is a generator that powers their most useful weapon. Keeping that "generator" clean and running well is the prerogative of most practitioners, besides performing the usual exercises to better ki control (such as meditation) the practitioners also insists on bettering his body through calisthenics, weight training, ect.

Overview[]

The art began quaintly enough, simple punches and kicks made in a linear, straightforward fashion. It was used more so as a conditioning regimen than an actual style. But as more and more people began to take notice to how basic and effective it was, others now known as “Masters” began to refine it; perfecting and honing its lethatlity. Now, with the use of attack patterns and physically-taxing combinations, the style has grown out of the confines of its once fundamental roots, becoming quite a valuable art in any country’s arsenal.

Users of Denkouken move very linearly. Straight lines, direct movement, and powerful hits are the trademarks of the style. However, it isn’t that simple. While it may seem as if users of Denkouken use a very basic style, there is subtleness to it. Speed mixed with great strength allows for the user to move in wide and confusing patterns to attack opponents from all angles.

The art has few defensive moves aside from blocking and dodging and due to it techniques requiring the legs to be properly grounded it relies a lot more on punches then kicks to attack. Its most used tactic is a concentrated barrages of attacks to overwhelm opponents before striking a fatal blow. These a quick flurry of punches allows a user to retain excellent mobility around the arena while simultaneously trying to push back the members of the opposing team.
